KMA presents 500 desks to 11 schools

The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has presented 500 desks for distribution to 11 Junior High Schools (JHS) in the Metropolitan Education Directorate.

Among the beneficiary schools were Adum Presbyterian JHS, Opoku Ware, State Experiment Basic One and Two, Amankwatia Basic B, Sokoban Methodist and Wesco Demonstration.

The Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) of Kumasi, Samuel Pyne, indicated that government was working tirelessly to improve the educational system and encourage efficient learning through various initiatives.

He was hopeful the furniture would help improve teaching and learning towards building a solid human resource base for the country.

According to the MCE, the Assembly in 2022, distributed 4,000 dual and mono desks to 25 Schools, adding that among the 25 schools were four Senior High Schools.

He said the government would not relegate to the background promises to enhance teaching and learning in the country.

Several projects such as school buildings, he said, were ongoing in various areas to improve teaching and learning.

Mr Pyne was much concerned about the maintenance of the furniture as he pleaded with the beneficiaries to take good care of them.

Mr Edward Owusu Sarpong, School Improvement Support Officer of the Metropolitan Educational Directorate, stood in for the Educational Director, Mr David Oppong, to receive the furniture.

He assured that the furniture, which was a major challenge to schools, would be maintained to serve their purpose.

Mr Sarpong thanked the KMA for the support and the commitment and efforts of the MCE to improve standards of education in the metropolis.

He lauded the Assembly for the initiative and called for more resources to be channelled to the education sector.
