Jealous man allegedly murders girlfriend 

Richard Kofi Galewosi, a 27-year-old farmer, has allegedly killed his girlfriend on suspicion of infidelity, at Dodo-Amanfrom, in the Kadjebi District of the Oti Region.

Galewosi was said to have hit his lover, Tuglo Mawusi, a 24-year-old seamstress apprentice, with a pestle, on suspicion of infidelity.

The incident, which occurred last Thursday, resulting in the death of the girlfriend, had thrown residents of the community into disbelief as the potential couple had been in a relationship for seven years now.

Ghana News Agency (GNA) gathered that after the tragedy, the suspect invited his elder brother from Ahamansu, also in the district, to the crime scene.

Galewosi’s brother after he saw the body in a pool of blood, escorted his brother to Dodo-Amanfrom Police Station and reported the case.

GNA learnt that the suspect said he killed the girlfriend because, he suspected her of infidelity and that the battering took place after Mawusi supposedly received a phone call from her supposed new boyfriend.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Gyan-Mante Frempong, the Kadjebi District Police Commander also confirmed the incident to the GNA.

He said the suspect was arraigned and remanded in custody to re-appear in court on November 15, adding that investigations were underway to unravel the circumstance leading to the incident.

Mr Cephas Awumee Amenyitor, the Assembly Member for Dodo-Amanfrom South Electoral Area, also confirmed the incident to the GNA.

He said Galewosi and Mawusi were lovers since the victim was in Junior High School two, and alleged the boyfriend, enrolled her into apprenticeship.

The Assembly Member said the relationship of the two lovers turned sour, leading to the gruesome murder of Mawusi.
