It’s mischievous to claim lifting lockdown politically motivated – John Boadu

John Boadu, the General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has stated that persons making claims that the lifting of the lockdown was politically motivated are mischievous and evil.

“The decision cannot be politically motivated because only mischievous and evil persons will make such claims,” he stressed and explained that “the President would have lifted the ban on forms of social gatherings including political rallies, parties, churches and funerals among others.”

Mr. Boadu described such individuals as evil, wicked and politically unwise and accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of scheming plots against the President to distract his attention from dealing with the outbreak of the coronavirus.

He alleged that the NDC had issued a fake memo which contained information announcing the NPP would go to the polls for their presidential and parliamentary primaries and hinted that lifting the lockdown was a combination of factors based on data and science available and the economy would have collapsed if the lockdown had not been lifted.

Mr Boadu slammed the NDC for being evil, wicked and mischievous to make such suggestions saying “if the President had lifted the lockdown based on political reasons, he would have gone further to lift the ban on funerals, political rallies, festivals and churches among others which is not motivated by political reason.

“Unless you lack understanding or you are like the NDC that is only praying for the coronavirus to spread, they only want to divert attention, diabolic, create mischief and wicked mind and these are people who do not want the country to progress,” he fumed.

It will be recalled that the NDC stated that the decision to lift the partial lockdown in Greater Accra and Greater Kumasi, as well as Kasoa and Tema, was a calculated attempt and politically motivated and believes it’s an attempt by the government to allow the Electoral Commission (EC) to compile a new voters’ register for the 2020 general elections and nothing more.

Sammy Gyamfi, the Director of Communications of the NDC wondered why the President imposed a partial lockdown with the objective of halting the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country, at a time we had only recorded 137 cases across just four regions of the country with five deaths.

He said but turn around to lift the partial lockdown, at a time our positive case count had galloped to 1,042, across 10 regions and with nine deaths?” –rainbowradioonline.com
