INTERPOL secretariat supports INTERPOL Ghana

International Police (INTERPOL) General Secretariat, in Lyon, France, has donated office equipment to INTERPOL Ghana of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), in Accra.

The equipment worth GH¢139,921, include laptop computers, printers, scanners, cabinets, biometric lock system, a safe, tables and chairs.

The Regional Product Deployment Officer of INTERPOL West Africa, Mr Nehah Eleyatt, presenting the donation, noted that activities of INTERPOL in Africa were declining due to the lack of equipment, hence the donation.

He urged security agencies in Ghana to collaborate with their counterparts internationally to curb crimes.

Mr Eleyatt said the provision of the equipment for personnel would help them achieve their mandate.

He commended the personnel of the Ghana Police Service for their dedication in ensuring the reduction of crimes in the country.

Mr Eleyatt said INTERPOL would continue to support their Ghanaian counterparts to achieve their goals.

The Director-General of the CID, Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo Danquah, receiving the donations, commended INTERPOL for the gesture, and training of personnel in crime prevention.

COP Addo-Danquah assured the donors that the items would be used for its intended purpose, and urged personnel to maintain the equipment to expand its lifespan.
