‘I’ll ensure effective grass-roots inclusion in devt’

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Akim Oda Constituency in the Eastern Region,Alexander Akwasi Acquah, has assured his constituents he willensure effective and efficient grass roots participation to accelerate socioeconomic development of the Constituency.

He explained that without such an agenda socioeconomic development could not be accelerated to improve livelihoods.

Mr Acquah made this known as part of a strategic means to reach out to the people for effective and efficient participation in socioeconomic development when he inaugurated seven committees for the area.

The committees, among other issues, are to help, support and assist the MP successfully execute his duties and regularly touch base with the grassroots for effective and efficient decision-making.

They included Finance, Project and Infrastructure, Education, Employment and Social Welfare, Health, Institutional and Public Relations, and Special Development.

Speaking at the committees’ inauguration at Akim Oda, Mr Acquah noted that he would create an office space for the committees to operate and also receive concerns of constituents irrespective of their political affiliations.

He assured the people of his commitment, determination and dedication to fulfilling his campaign promises of ensuring a Comprehensive Health Insurance for Constituency Executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and provision of 30 taxi cabs for drivers on a work-and-pay basis.

Mr Acquah said he would work to incorporate the needs of the 18 electoral areas in the sharing of the District Assembly Common Fund to ensure equity, probity, transparency and accountability.

Victoria Adu, Birim Central Municipal Chief Executive, lauded the efforts of the lawmaker for what she described as a strategic move in bringing governance on the doorstep of constituents.

She advised the public to observe the COVID-19 protocol and also take part in the national vaccination exercise that had already been rolled out in parts of the country. -GNA
