The Ho West District Assembly has procured 10,000 face masks at a cost of GH¢ 20,000 for distribution to seven markets, various shops and vantage spots in the district, to enable the populace to comply with the compulsory nose mask wearing directive.
“We are leaving no stone unturned in the fight against coronavirus (COVID-19)” said the DCE, Mr Ernest Victor Apau.
According to him, the items were acquired with funds from the assembly’s coffers.
Mr Apau told the Ghanaian Times in an interview at Dzolo-Kpuita yesterday (Friday) that 1, 000 of the masks would be allocated to the Abutia-Kisiflui market, 400 to the Dededo market and 400 to the Kpedze market.
The DCE said the Vane and Saviefe-Gbogame market would receive 400 and 200 masks respectively.
The rest of the masks, Mr Apau said, would be sent to the Dzolo-Kpuita Police Station, shops and other vantage points in the district.
He said that the Ho West District had not recorded a single case of COVID-19, “and we will do our best to keep the virus off our domain.”
Pursuant to that some sections of the populace would be provided the masks at no cost.
Mr Apau said that the assembly and the District Emergency Health Management Committee were working assiduously to ensure that the mask wearing directive was strictly adhered to by all and sundry in the district.
He said that the assembly was working out the bylaw to enforce the compulsory mask wearing directive in the district.
Subsequent to that, those who flouted the directive would suffer swift and ruthless consequences, the DCE warned.
