Ho Technical University to run courses in English and French

PTHE acting Vice Chancellor of the Ho Technical University, Professor Ben Q. Honyenuga has re-affirmed the institution’s stance to run its courses in English and French.

“When our products have command over English and French, they will definitely become more marketable and readily employable in Africa and beyond”, he pointed out.

Professor Honyenuga was receiving a two-member delegation from the School of Agronomy of the Institute National Polytechnique Houphet-Boigny (INP-HB) which is on a three-day official visit to HTU to discuss ways of strengthening the bond of curricula cooperation between the two institutions.

There has been a linguistic exchange programme between the two tertiary institutions for the past few years.

Professor Honyenuga maintained that the bi-lingual status of graduates in West Africa would also help to advance the objectives of ECOWAS, with regards to regional integration.

He gave the assurance that HTU would continue to commit the needed resources and great zeal towards maintaining its collaboration with the Ivorian institution, to benefit generations yet unborn.

On his part, Dr. Siaka Kone, spokesman for the delegation said that the cooperation between HTU and INP-HB in that past few years was already yielding monumental results, so far as their mutual benefits were concerned.

He said that it was, therefore, necessary to build on those gains to support practical education for the socio-economic development of the sub-region.

Meanwhile, Dr Kone proposed a joint research by the two institutions to find lucrative methods of supporting the cocoa and chocolate industries of Ghana and the Ivory Coast.

The other member of the delegation is an assistant director of the School of Agronomy of INP-HB, Djina Jean Marc.
