Ho Rotary Club/presents 500 masks to 3 transport unions

The Ho Rotary Club on Wednesday distributed 500 face masks worth GH¢ 5,000 to three transport unions at the Ho Lorry Station.

The beneficiary groups are GPRTU, PROTOA and Cooperative Transport Union.

Rotarian Vivian Adoboe-Tefe, President of the Ho Rotary Club who led the exercise said that the transport sector was vital in the fight against COVID-19.

“It is responsible for carrying people from one place to another, and for that matter it must play a leading role in educating the public in very practical ways against the spread of the virus,” she said.

The Ho Rotary Club President said that the transport unions covered the length and breadth of the country and that further underlined their importance in the crusade to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Rotarian Adoboe-Tefe said that the gesture was in line with the club’s commitment to service to mankind.

She gave the assurance that the Ho Rotary Club would continue to commit great zeal and resources towards effort to contain the spread of COVID-19.

Receiving the items, Mr Alfred Amegah, Ho GPRTU Welfare Vice Chairman expressed gratitude for the gesture and said that the PPE would definitely help the unions in their fight against the spread of the virus.

He urged other organisations to support the transport unions in a similar manner.

The fight against COVID-19, Mr Amegah pointed out, required concerted efforts from all and sundry.
