Highlife musician Kofi B passes on

Multiple awards winning highlife musician Kofi B died yesterday after suffering a heart attack.

He died shortly after performing at a concert in Cape Coast in the Central region.

Known in real life as Kofi Boakye Yiadom, the singer was said to have complained of chest pains and started vomiting after his performance.

The “Yaw Donpre” hit maker was said to have passed away at exactly 3: 00 a.m. after being rushed to the hospital

The deceased had been deposited at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital mortuary awaiting autopsy.

Kofi B rose to fame more than a decade ago with countless of songs to his credit, including “Koforidua Flowers”, “Donkomi”, ‘Odasani”, “Akua Ataa”, “Afia Donkor”, “Wonti”, “Me Wu”, “Bantama Kwasi Boakye”, “Me Ko Odo Fie”, “Come Back”, “Odo Pa” and “Mmobrowa among others.

He is widely known for his versatility and passion for music and would remain one of Ghana’s most entertaining musicians.

Meanwhile, social media has gone haywire with thousands of people both in and outside Ghana, pouring in tribute and sharing images and videos of the talented singer and song writer.

The heartfelt messages are coming from Kofi B’s large fan base and his colleague entertainers.

Angela Anderson in a facebook post said “I cannot believe my idol is gone. The music industry has lost a legend. Rest well till we meet again. I will forever remember you and your good songs.”

Another fan stated that he could not hold back his tears after the news of the musician’s demise was confirmed.

He mentioned that the music industry would never be the same again because of the death of the music legend.

Another fan, Mr Yaw Twene Lartey in a post on Twitter said “Oh I am very saddened and heartbroken after hearing this, he was such a great musician, Ghana will forever remember you.”
