Hearts host Dreams FC in FA Cup …Oly face Legon Cities today

The MTN FA Cup competition will resume this weekend with the round of 32 games across all the match centres.

Headlining the round’s games is the clash between defending champions Accra Hearts of Oak and Dreams FC at the Accra Sports Stadium tomorrow.

This game would revive the emerging rivalry between the two sides following impressive displays by the Dawu Club in recent visits to the Accra Sports Stadium.

The recent form of the Phobians also provides motivation for Dreams to attempt, perhaps, the biggest upset at this level of the competition.

Despite playing well on Sunday, the Phobians struggled to break a stubborn FC Samartex squad in front of their followers and would need to make amends but the narrative may not differ considering Dreams FC’s confidence now.

That game will be preceded by a regional derby involving Accra Great Olympics and Legon Cities in what is expected to be a thrilling encounter at the Accra Sports Stadium today.

Olympics seem to have enjoyed the best of the outcomes in their matches but not the immediate past clash where the Royals defeated the Wonder Club at the Elwak Stadium in a betPawa Ghana Premier League match.

Olympics made a case about the nature of the Elwak pitch which appears not to be in a good state.

But with action returning to the Accra Sports Stadium, both sides will have a decent field to prove who the best is and who would claim the bragging rights.

Olympics appear favourites with the performance exhibited so far despite contributing four players to the Black Galaxies team campaigning in the Championship of Africa Nations (CHAN) but they may find themselves in trouble if they keep missing chances.

But Cities will make similar excuses as they battle without their striker Kofi Kodzi and Jonah Attuquaye also with the Galaxies.

Volta Rangers will welcome Krystal Palace; Hearts of Lions will host MSK Zilina while Liberty Professionals confront AS Rences to complete the Southern zone group.

Kumasi Asante Kotoko may have a fairly easy clash against second division side Bernab FC at the Baba Yara Stadium.

It will be the high profile game in Group C which also has matches between FC Samartex and Nations FC and Bibiani Gold Sars versus King Faisal.

Group Wamanafo Royals will host Nsoatreman in Group B and Bofoakwa Tano facing Aduana SC.

In Group A, Steadfast will engage STK Stars, RTU against WA Suntaa and Wa Power against Debibi United.

Group D has Cape Coast Vipers against Dwarfs, Kotoku Royals versus Nzema Kotoko and Skyy FC versus Karela FC.
