Hearts chase revenge over Medeama SC

• Flashback: A clash from the Hearts versus Nsoatreman match in Accra

Accra Hearts of Oak will chase revenge when they host defending betPawa Premier League champions Medeama SC at the Accra Sports Stadium today in their match day eight clash.

Hearts were badly bruised by the same side at the same venue last season with a 5-1 defeat that summarised the Phobian season.

But into a new season, it appears the Phobians have not gotten over that disappointment.

In six games, Hearts have only managed six points after winning one, drawing three and losing two.

Medeama SC’s eighth position on the log after three wins, two losses and a draw makes them somewhat a favourite.

But for the huge scoreline recorded last season, games between the two sides have been tensed with the Phobians often having the last laugh at home.

However, a quest to stage a title defence will drive Medeama into replicating the performance that upset the Phobians in front of their own fans.

League leaders Nsoatreman FC will face a stern test at the Nana Konmansah Park when they welcome Asante Kotoko.

Nsoatreman, coached by Maxwell Konadu, is enjoying a roller-coaster ride in the league having amassed 13 points from six games with a game in hand.

They are determined to add Kotoko to their growing list of casualties and looking at their current form, Kotoko must put in an extra performance to go home with something.

Tomorrow, the Accra Sports Stadium will witness the battle of the Lions when Accra Lions host returnees Kpando Heart of Lions with referee Gabriel Opoku Arhin in charge.

Accra Lions will hope to return to winning ways for the first time since their match day two 1-0 victory over Legon Cities.

While the Accra Lions boast of a single win with three draws and three defeats, the Kpando lads are yet to grab a win, drawing all their previous six games with one in hand.

The Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park in Bechem would come alive today when the Wonder Club, Accra Great Olympics play as guests of Bechem United coached by immediate past coach of Olympics, Bismark Kobi Mensah.

Returnees Bofoakwa Tano’s unbeaten run in the league will face a test today when they visit the Nana Agyemang Badu I Park in Dormaa.

Both teams are separated on the log by a point with Aduana Stars’ 12 points helping them occupy the second spot with the visitors lying fourth.

In other games today, bottom club Nations FC will return to the Kwame Kyei Sports Complex in Abrankese to welcome Real Tamale United and Dreams FC will face Berekum Chelsea at the Theatre of Dreams.

Karela United will be at home in the Aliu Mahama Stadium in Tamale to welcome Bibiani Gold Stars while at the Nsenkyire Park in Samreboi, Samartex FC will face Legon Cities.
