Hearts aim to break WAFA invincibility

Resurgent Accra Hearts of Oak will on Sunday trek to Sogakope to face the might of WAFA in a match day six southern sector fixture of the ongoing Normalisation Committee Special Cup competition.

Both sides are tied on nine points apiece with the WAFA lads ahead of the Phobians on goal difference in second place with a point less than leaders, Karela United.

In five games, the home side have won two and drawn three while the visitors have won three and lost two, with the defeats coming on the road.

That statistic clearly hands the advantage to WAFA, which will aim to preserve its invincibility against the Phobians that are yet to establish themselves as a force as far as away games were concerned.

The Phobians have been bad on the road; losing 1-0 each to Elmina Sharks and Karela United.

It, therefore, raises concerns especially when it is coming against a side that has been near excellent at home.

Previous feats including a humiliating 5-0 defeat two years ago will be hunting the Phobians but would need to keep their cool and devise strategies to silence the young Academy boys in front of their fans.

At the Ndoum Stadium in Elmina, leaders Karela United will face Elmina Sharks in a game the home side looks the favourite to win.

Fourth-placed Liberty Professionals would look to put their home defeat to Hearts of Oak last Sunday behind them as they visit the Dawu Park to play as guest of Dreams FC.

Bottom-placed Cape Coast Dwarfs will face Inter Allies at the Tema Park.

With Asante Kotoko taking a respite on match day six, the focus will shift to the Golden City Park where Berekum Chelsea host Ashantigold in a fierce Northern sector clash.

Chelsea appear to have found their rhythm with a series of convincing displays so far churned out in the competition but their real test will come against the ‘Aboakese’ lads.

Ashgold until a second half breakdown was a thorn in Kotoko’s flesh when they clashed at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium two weeks ago.

Despite losing that time, they have remained formidable and would pose a real threat for the host who would have to play above themselves to survive.

Bechem United will also engage Aduana Stars in another difficult encounter which outcome could affect standings in the sector.

At the T&A Park, Medeama are clear favourites against Techiman outfit, Eleven Wonders.
