Hasaacas Ladies face Mamelodi Sundowns in CAF WCL final

Ghana’s Hasaacas Ladies will be eager to make history today when they slug it out with South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns in the finals of the maiden CAF Women’s Champion League (WCL) at the 30th June Stadium in Cairo, Egypt.

Hasaacas booked the ticket to the finals following a late rally to beat Moroccan side ASFAR Club 2-1 in the first semi-final game on Monday.

That was preceded by a vintage show that saw the Ghanaian ladies top their group.

The South Africans also defeated Equatorial Guinea side Malabo Kings 5-4 on penalties in the second semi-final clash which ended on a barren note in regulation time on same day.

The clash between the two would add to the emerging rivalry between Ghana and South Africa which has been heightened by upshots of Sunday’s FIFA World Cup qualifier between the Black Stars and Bafana Bafana in Ghana.

While football chieftains of the two countries prepare for a showdown on the corridors of FIFA following a protest lodged by the South Africans for a replay, Hasaacas Ladies and Mamelodi Sundowns would battle it out on the field to make history as the first team to win the trophy.

Coach Yusif Basigi would have ensure his defence stay focused and disciplined under pressure if they want to make history in Africa.

Moroccan side ASFAR Club will battle it out with Malabo Kings of Equatorial Guinea for the third place.
