Hasaacas Ladies, Ampem Darkoa Ladies vie for WPL titles …In Southern, Northern zones

The 2022/23 Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League will be climaxed this weekend with mouthwatering clashes in both Northern and Southern sector zones for match-day 18.

The Southern Zone will see a tough battle for league leaders Hasaacas Ladies who are set to host rivals Faith Ladies at the Sekondi Gyandu Park, tomorrow.

The Sekondi ladies failed to stretch the lead last weekend after playing out a pulsating 1-1 encounter with Lady Strikers.

That slip gave Faith Ladies the edge to hammer relegation bound Ridge City 3-1 to deny Hasaacas Ladies their fifth title.

Tomorrow’s clash will provide Faith Ladies the opportunity to win their first silverware should they cruise past the reigning champions for the second time, having defeated Hasaacas Ladies 1-0 in the first round, courtesy a second half strike from Jennifer Kankam Yeboah-.

At the Achimota School Park today, Police Ladies will square off with third-placed Army Ladies.

The camouflage ladies will aim for another five-star performance, having edged Soccer Intellectuals 3-0 in their last meeting to amass 32 points. A win could cement a second spot should Faith Ladies fall to Hasaacas Ladies.

At the Legon Presec Park, relegated Thunder Queens will battle Essiam Socrates Ladies today while impressive Berry Ladies play as guests of relegated Ridge City at the Madina AstroTurf.

Having both escaped relegation, Soccer Intellectuals will battle Lady Strikers at the Eduyaw Assasan Park today to round up the Southern Zone.

In the Northern Zone, Ampem Darkoa Ladies will aim for another silverware when they come up against Ashtown Ladies at the Ohene Ameyaw Park on Monday.

However, Ampem Darkoa will face a tough battle from Pearlpia Ladies for the title should the latter bounce back with a win over Northern Ladies at the Aliu Mahama Stadium the same day, having succumbed to a 3-0 defeat to Ashtown Ladies away last weekend.

Both have 28 points but Ampem Darkoa occupies the top spot as a result of a superior goal difference of 20 while the latter have one.

However, Dreamz Ladies on third position with 27 points, Northern Ladies, Supreme Ladies and Ashtown Ladies on fourth, fifth and sixth positions, respectively, with 26 points each are equally favorites for the title in case of victories, making it a difficult hurdle for Ampem Darkoa and Pearlpia Ladies.

At the Utrecht Park, Tamale Ladies will take on Supreme Ladies on Monday while third-placed Dreamz Ladies lock horns with relegated Candy Soccer Academy at the Bantama AstroTurf Park.

Relegated Fabulous Ladies and Prison Ladies will battle it out at the Bantama AstroTurf Park tomorrow to end the season.
