GUM unveiled, vows to end NPP, NDC duopoly

A NEW addition to Ghana’s political parties, Ghana Union Movement (GUM) has been outdoored ahead of the 2020 general election.

Given its provisional licence by the Electoral Commission in Accra last week, the leadership of GUM indicated that it was poised to cause a stir in next year’s polls to end the duopoly of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic (NDC).

At an unveiling ceremony in Accra on Tuesday, the Founder and National Chairman of the GUM, Reverend Christian Kwabena Andrew, described himself as the Kwame Nkrumah reincarnate ordained to redeem the country from the jaws of retrogression.

“Rapid industrialisation will be witnessed in the country and the primitive addiction of exporting our products in their raw states will be modernised, most of our export proceeds will not be taken in liquid cash but in exchange with modern equipment from the developed world,” he declared to loud cheers from party members.

According to Mr Andrew, who is also the founder of Life Assembly Worship Centre, not later than six months after assuming office, “port duties will be absolutely free for all Ghanaians”.

On agriculture, the ‘man of God’ known for the destruction of shrines noted that his government would reintroduce the state farms programme to increase the country’s production base whilst creating employment saying, “Fishing boats will be supplied to fishermen with trawlers and special fishing nets to aid in their fishing activities.”

The greatest cancer which has befallen the nation, Rev Andrew identified, was corruption adding that, “Corruption will be our greatest enemy as a government should Ghanaians give us the mandate.

“Education under a GUM government will move from theory to practical so as to give Ghanaian students the needed knowledge and skills needed for the job market, embark on a vigorous infrastructure expansion programme including the construction of  roads, railways, schools, hospitals, amongst others to open up the economy for the needed investments.

“These and many more humanly favourable objectives are what the GUM will pursue to liberate our country from the lip services the NPP and NDC have paid to us over the years,” he assured and urged Ghanaians to support and assist the party towards a prosperous nation.
