The Ga South Municipal Assembly has accrued an Internally Generated Fund (IGF) of GH¢3, 514, 204.91, which represents 83.67 per cent as at the end of December, 2021.
This is an improvement on the 55.69 per cent achieved in 2020.
However, the Assembly projected to collect a total of GH¢4.2 million from all revenue sources as at 2021.
Mr Joseph Stephen Nyarni, the Municipal Chief Executive of the Assembly announced these at the first ordinary meeting of the Third Session of the second Assembly held here, on Thursday.
Mr Nyarni said the assembly projected to collect GH¢4.3 million from all revenue sources and as at February 2022, has mobilised GHC435, 478.64 which represents 10.13 percent.
He said management was working hard to ensure that they achieve the set target for the year 2022 and hoped to co-operate with all Assembly Members in that direction.
The MCE noted that they have identified various revenue pay points and therefore, working on the temporary structures for installation, and collection of revenue would be vigorously pursued in the second quarter of the year.
According to him, boundary issues with seven electoral areas and poor roads in the municipality was a major challenge, adding management was tackling them in a tactful manner to bring peace to the area.
Mr Nyarni said education and health are his priorities and so far, the Assembly was continuously improving the teaching and learning environment of the children by providing decent classroom blocks and furniture for both teachers and children.
On health, he said work on the second phase of a 40-bed capacity male ward at Ngleshie Amanfrom Polyclinic would commence in two weeks’ time.
On security and justice, Mr Nyarni said work on the new District Court at Ngleshie Amanfrom and its accompanying residential facility was almost completed and that would alleviate or ease the difficulties residents within the Municipality go through by travelling to other municipalities to seek justice.
“We had a few setbacks in our resolve to operationalise Danchira and Tenbiban Police Stations, but management was working together with the new Divisional Commander to bring the matter to finality very soon”, he said.
On social protection, he said the Department of Social Welfare recorded eight cases of lost and found children and one suspected child marriage case within the quarter.
He said the office was able to unite five of the children with family members, four of the cases were referred to temporary shelter.
