Great Olympics face Accra Lions today

Wonder Club, Accra Great Olympics will host Accra Lions in their match day five betPawa Ghana Premier League encounter at the Accra Sports Stadium today.

Games between the two is one of the emerging derbies that is creating thrills among fans and today’s clash will be no exception.

Fresh on the minds of both set of fans was last season’s 3-0 defeat of Olympics by the Premier League newcomers; a game that saw the Wonder Club put up one of their worst displays of the season.

No wonder they escaped relegation by a hair’s breadth.

Interestingly, both started last season’s league impressively with the Lions touted as a side to cause a major upset but dropped their guard in the second round of matches, just like Olympics.

But the manner of that thrashing did not go down well with the ‘AGOSU’ lads and would be out to exact their pound of flesh against the Lions who have played four games, out of which five points have been earned to trail Olympics with six points.

But beyond the desire to outdo each other is a dream to jump into the top four zone of the table and begin to consolidate a place among the elites.

Under Coach Annor Walker, Olympics are beginning to find their feet again, playing composed football but facing the same problem of creating chances and converting them.

At home and in front of anxious fans, Olympics would be under pressure to secure the three points against the Lions whose mouths were shut by Asante Kotoko last week at the same venue.

Perhaps, a motivation to avoid a second consecutive defeat, would drive them to be a thorn in the flesh of the Wonder Club but the host appear the favourites to come out tops.
