GRA donates furniture to SHSs in South Dayi

The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has presented 100 mono desks to be distributed among four Senior High and Technical Schools in the South Dayi District of the Volta Region.

The schools are; the Peki Senior High, Peki Senior High Technical, Kpeve Senior High Technical and Tongor Senior High Schools.

The donations followed an appeal by Mr Humphrey Agbeahia, a former Tutor of Peki Senior High School to GRA.

Mr Senyo Ameyibor, the Ho Sector Commander of the Customs Division of the GRA, who presented the furniture at the Peki Senior High School said schools required the best environments to compete and develop.

He said the GRA considered its role in supporting the development of society “serious”, and called on other corporate bodies and organisations to impact positively on communities and institutions in need.

Mr Ameyibor asked the students to make good use of the items and strive to become productive elements of society.

Madam Afi Amafuga, Volta Regional Director of Education said such gestures supported the Education Ministry in providing quality teaching and learning atmospheres in schools and while the Ghana Education Service was working to address challenges in schools, students ought to deliver punctuality, regularity and serious academic work.

Mr Jonathan Agbley, Headmaster of Peki Senior High School said schools in the south Dayi District were still grappling with challenges and mentioned vehicles, staff bungalows, classrooms and furniture as major concerns.

Mrs Nana Brago Owusu Ansah, Chief Revenue Officer in charge of Communication and Public Affairs at the GRA Head Office told GNA the Authority was working towards ensuring that every part of the country felt its corporate social responsibility interventions.

The desks were made by Toh-Kpalime Vocational Training Institute. GNA
