GPHA donates furniture to RMU SRC

The Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) has donated a set of 40 chairs and tables to the Student Representative Council (SRC) of the Regional Maritime University (RMU) in Accra.

The donation, according to the Principal Marketing Supervisor, Ophelia Adjeiwaa Yeboah, who represented the Director of Port, Tema, Mrs Sandra Opoku, was to support the university in its provision of quality maritime education for the benefit of the country at large.

She said it was also in honour of an earlier request made by the SRC to assist with infrastructure to enhance quality learning within the university.

“We have a long time relationship with the RMU and grateful to assist with the tables and chairs for students. We also thank the RMU for the periodic training of staff of GPHA from time to time and providing the port with adequate human labour and skills,” she stated.

She urged the RMU to maintain the relationship between the two outfits for future collaboration towards the growth of the maritime industry.

Receiving the items, the SRC President, Alex Kojo Abayateye, thanked GPHA for the kind gesture, adding that the donation was timely and would go a long way to help the students and teachers as far as learning was concerned.

“I would like to appeal to other well-meaning organisations to come on board to support the SRC and RMU as a whole”.

He also assured the GPHA that the tables and chairs would be put to good use and maintained properly.

He thanked GPHA for receiving students of the RMU during vacations for their industrial attachments at the port.

The SRC President entreated all students to be of good behaviour whenever they were at the port to maintain the relationship between the two outfits.
