The Volta
Regional Minister, Dr Archibald Letsa, has reassured the citizenry of the
government’s commitment to fulfill campaign promises without a doubt of
ambiguity and urged them to exercise restraint as it facilitate procedures for
implementing flagship projects.
“Government is resolved, dedicated,
determined and committed to fulfill its campaign promises without a doubt of
ambiguity, however, we must exercise restraint as it facilitate procedures for
implementing the promises,” he stressed.
Dr Letsa gave the reassurance when he addressed a grand durbar of the chiefs and people of Adaklu Kodzobi in the Adaklu District to climax their week long Bliza (corn festival) celebration on the theme: ‘Youth Empowerment through Quality Education.’
It was
instituted in 1983 after that year’s drought and famine to honour corn for
being the first foodstuff that ended the famine and also thank God, and has
since been repackaged to galvanise the synergy for peace, unity, development
and fund raising venture for the communities.
Dr Letsa appealed to the citizenry to work to
protect the peace, unity, stability and cohesion the country had sustained over
the years and continue enjoying as no government could execute its development
agenda if there was chaotic situations saying: “We should commend
ourselves for the sustenance of peaceful, united and coexistence to move our
democratic dispensation, good governance and rule of law to another
level.”
Togbe
Dzegblade IV, chief of the community, appealed to his subjects to rededicate
and resolve towards growth and development of the community and not to “fold
our arms in despair and wait for the government, let us take our destiny into
our own hands”.
Phanuel Donkor, Adaklu District Chief
Executive, disclosed that the district would soon shed its deprived accolade
and become an envious one due to development agenda being pursued by his
administration.
Nene Nuer
Anorbaa Sasraku II, Paramount Chief of Yilo Krobo, who chaired the function,
asked his colleague chiefs to collaborate with each other to plan and execute
the development of their areas, and reminded the citizenry of the impending
district assembly and unit committee elections, and urged them to elect those
who had interest of their areas and also vote “yes” to elect them.
Matthew Wormenor, the Chairman of the Festival
Planning Committee, said the GH₵20,000 raised at the durbar would be used to
complete the one-storey building information centre. -gna.org
