Govt urged to withdraw E-levy

The President of the Ghana National Association of Farmers and Fishermen, Nene TerkpeteyAgbleze I, has appealed to the government to completely withdraw the E-levy Bill from Parliament.

He said that though Ghana had a lot of minerals and cash crops, Ghanaians continued to wallow in hardship and extreme poverty.

According to him, the implementation of the E-levy would worsen the plight of the ordinary citizen who was already finding it difficult to make ends meet.

Nene Agbleze said that farmers and fishermen were not against the payment of taxes for national development, rather, they were against obnoxious taxes such as the E-levy, which had the tendency to collapse some businesses in the country.

“If our cocoa, diamond, bauxite, manganese, timber and oil cannot develop Ghana and as well create jobs for the teeming unemployed youth, what can the E-levy do?

“No farmer or fisherman supports the E-levy; It should be withdrawn immediately for Ghanaians to continue to have their peace,” he said.
