Govt has enviable record in sports infrastructure – Prof Twumasi

Professor Peter Twumasi, Director-General of the National Sports Authority (NSA) has said government through the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MOYS) has achieved an enviable record in the provision of sports infrastructure in the country.

Speaking at the inauguration of the hockey Local Organising Committee (LOC) members for the hosting of club and national championships in December 2021 and January 2022, respectively, he said, infrastructure development in sports under the current government was unprecedented in the history of sports development in the country.

“The government through the Ministry of Youth and Sports is doing a marvellous job for the sports sector. For instance, the hockey stadium was said to be collapsing some time ago, but today it is in the best of shapes.

“The Theodosia Okoh National Hockey Stadium has been completed and it would serve as the venue for both competitions and the Kumasi Stadium is almost done.” he added.

According to Prof. Twumasi, the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo wants to construct a multi-purpose stadium in every region, adding that work had begun in Navrongo, Yendi, and Takoradi.
