Govt delegation mourns with chiefs, people of Buem traditional area

A government delegation led by the Volta Regional Minister, Dr Archibald Letsa, on Friday joined hundreds of sympathisers at Bodada in the Oti Region for the burial and final funeral rites of the late Nana Aburam Akpandja IV, Paramount Chief of Buem traditional area and Buemhemaa Abena Appewbea II also of the area.

The two departed royals died in 2017 after a short illness and are on their ancestral journey.

Other members of the delegation were Mr Samuel Kofi Dzamesi, Minister of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Michael Gyato, Deputy Minister of Sanitation, and Water Resources, Kofi Blagodzi, Outgoing Deputy Volta Regional Minister, Johnson Avuletey, Deputy Volta Regional Minister-designate, municipal and district chief executives.

The Volta Regional Minister, conveyed condolences to the chiefs and people of the Buem traditional area from President Nana Addo Dankwa  Akufo-Addo, and eulogised the late royals, describing them as great leaders.          

Dr Letsa said even though Nana Akpandja, did not stay to see the creation of the new Oti Region, he would be remembered for his contribution towards the creation of the region.

He urged all to maintain the peace in the area to ensure accelerated development.

The Minister of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Samuel Kofi Dzamesi, commended the people for their loyalty and support to the government.

Nana Obrah Okuamoah VIII, Nifahene and acting Paramount Chief of Buem traditional area, assured the government that they would select a successor devoid of dispute to continue with the good works of their departed chief and queenmother.
