Govt committed to addressing developmental challenges – President

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has assured the people of Dzodze in the Volta Region of the government’s commitment to address the development challenges in their communities.

The President gave the assurance in a meeting with a delegation from the Dzodze Traditional Area at the Jubilee House in Accra yesterday.

He said despite the economic challenge of the COVID-19 pandemic which has affected government’s financial inflows, his administration was committed to addressing the development gap in the area and other parts of the country.

“Despite the pandemic and its impact on our health and the economy, efforts are being made to build a strong economy,” he said.

According to him, government’s revenue had gone down significantly due to the slowdown in economics.

At the height of the pandemic, he said government had to intervene by providing free water, electricity and food to the public to reduce the impact of the pandemic on the lives of ordinary Ghanaians.

President Akufo-Addo described the government’s move to provide support to Ghanaians as “unavoidable expenses” because the impact of the pandemic was “enormous.”

The President urged the Volta Regional Minister to work with the relevant ministries to address challenges in the area, including access to potable water, education and market, among others.

He expressed gratitude to the traditional leaders for the support given his government and pledged to address the development challenges in the area.

President Akufo-Addo stressed the need for the country to find means of addressing its development challenges without depending on foreign grants

The Chief of Dzodze Traditional Area, TogbuiDey III, who led the delegation, thanked the President for his commitment to develop the country.

He said the chiefs and people of Dzodze would continue to support the government to bring development in their communities
