The District Chief Executive for Gomoa West, Bismark Baise-Nkum, has expressed the government’s commitment in fast-tracking the development of communities and urged the citizenry to repose confidence in the current administration.
The district, he noted, has not been left out in terms of development projects and chronicled a number of initiatives taken by the government in the area which had increased the number of schools under the School Feeding Programme from 23 to 49.
Mr Baisie-Nkum was speaking at the inauguration of the Nasara Youth and Women’s Wings of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at Apam in the Central Region, with the inauguration executed by the regional executives of the party.
A nine-member Council of Elders which included Mr Fred Oscar Abban, a former Presiding Member of the Gomoa West District Assembly was also inaugurated at the ceremony.
In terms of the provision of potable water to residents, Mr Baisie-Nkum
explained that, currently, pipe lines were being laid from Gomoa Manso to cover
Gomoa Ngyiresi, Gomoa Brofo, Asempanyi, Gomoa Adaa and other communities.
“It is our commitment to ensure that every community in the district has access to potable water, as well as improvement in sanitation including a Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound has been provided for residents of Gomoa Enyeme community for quick healthcare delivery.
“A teacher’s quarters has been constructed at Gomoa Damang to enhance
effective teaching and learning as well as reduction in teacher absenteeism,”
he said.
Mr Baisie-Nkum commended the government for the introduction of the free Senior
High School (SHS) policy and noted it was a bold initiative to ensure students
who would not have had access to secondary education due to financial
constraints did not drop out and reiterated the government’s commitment in
rehabilitation and construction of a number of roads in the
district.
The party, he said, must strive to maintain the parliamentary seat in the constituency and widen its margin for NPP in the 2020 general election.
