Goldstar Air honours Buipewura Jinapor II

A wholly owned Ghanaian airline, Goldstar Air, has named one of its aircraft after the Paramount Chief of the Buipe Traditional Area in the Savannah Region, Buipewura, Abdulai Jinapor II.

This is in recognition of his sterling leadership as traditional ruler and for promoting the customs and tradition of the chiefs and people of Gonjaland to the wider world.

A citation presented to the Buipewura at his Palace at Buipe, read “His Royal Majesty Buipewura Jinapor II, for your tenacity as a zealous defender in the Gonja Traditional Area and your indefatigable leadership as the Overlord of the Buipe Traditional Area, in your honour Goldstar Air will name one of our aircraft after you.”

This was made known to the Buipewura when the management of Goldstar Air presented assorted personal protection equipment (PPE) to him for the celebration of the Buipe Damba festival.

The items included alcohol based sanitisers, nose and face shields and liquid detergents to provide protection for the celebrants against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Speaking after the presentation the Air Marshal of Goldstar Air, Alhaji Hamza Saaka, said they were in Buipe to provide PPE and to inform Buipewura Jinapor II, that an aircraft was being named after him.

Alhaji Saaka in a telephone interview with the Ghanaian Times yesterday said Goldstar Air was getting ready to operate in Africa and 12 other destinations in Europe, Middle East, Asia Pacific, the Caribbean and North America.

He said “it is worth dying for a nation that honours its living heroes and heroines and as a result, the company believes it is appropriate to honor distinguished Ghanaians”.

Alhaji Hamza Saaka disclosed that; “Goldstar Air will construct a 250 x 250 x 75 hangar in the Northern Regional capital of Tamale for aircraft maintenance and refurbishment, as well as use the Tamale airport as our second hub. The airline is planning the Goldstar City project, which will be located in Tamale and will contain housing, a training school, and other amenities for our engineers, pilots, cabin crew, and other staff”.

“When fully functioning, this facility will create new commercial prospects while also promoting northern Ghana to the rest of the world,” he said. Our goal as Ghanaians is to create a cutting-edge aviation sector capable of competing in worldwide markets in terms of safety, quality, dependability, timeliness, efficiency, and prices,” he added.

An elated Buipewura said the award was not for him alone but all his sub-chiefs and the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Central Gonja.

The Buipewura commended Goldstar airlines for coming to add to the airlines already operating in Ghana.
