Goal-poacher Tetteh signs for Hearts of Oak

Hearts of Oak have made clear their intent of competing for the Ghana Premier League (GPL) title by dashing for the signature of top striker Abednego Tetteh.

The club yesterday announced the signing of the remorseless goal-poacher on a three-year deal.

Tetteh was expected to join the Phobians as early as January this year but the deal fell through.

The ex-Bechem United forward joins the Rainbow boys ahead of the second round of the GPL, hoping to inject some bite into the club’s attacking machinery.

“Hearts of Oak is happy to announce the signing of striker, Abednego Tetteh. The goal poacher has signed a three-year contract with the club,” the club posted on their Twitter handle.

Hearts currently lie at eighth position with 21 points, seven points adrift leaders Aduana Stars – and four points less than their sworn rivals Asante Kotoko.

Tetteh, 29, returned to the country after spells abroad. He has been waiting to make his comeback in the highly competitive GPL, but his return to action has now been delayed by the novel coronavirus.

The ‘net-breaker’ previously played for Sudanese sides Al Hilal Omdurman and Al Hilal El Obeid before spells in India with Real Kashmir and Trau.

The top flight has been suspended due to the virus and its return is yet to be determined with the FA waiting government’s decision to lift the ban on social gathering, hopefully by May 31.

Tetteh was a member of the Bechem United squad that clinched the 2016 MTN FA Cup before leaving to join Sudan’s Al Hilal.
