Ghana woos Russia’s support for Dr Edward Kwakwa’s candidature for WIPO

The Minister of Communication, Mrs Ursula Owusu- Ekuful has reiterated the importance of knowledge sharing in the Intellectual Property Space.

She added that there was also the need for Russia to offer support to Africa to enable the continent have a voice on the Intellectual Property Platform.

The minister made the remarks during a meeting with some top Russian government officials to whip up support for Ghana’s candidate for the upcoming World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) elections, Dr.Edward Kwakwa.

She expressed gratitude to the Russian government for endorsing Ghana’s candidate, saying such engagements had the tendency to encourage the youth of Ghana to prepare for the fourth Industrial Revolution era.

Director General of Russia’s Federal Service for Intellectual Property, Mr Gregory Ivliev on his part indicated that Russia’s availability to share best practices with Ghana on various aspects of intellectual property management was encouraging.

In another meeting with Russia’s Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and the country’s President’s special envoy, Mr Mikhail Bodgdanov, Mrs Ursula Owusu- Ekuful assured that Dr Kwakwa when given the nod would give off his best by promoting fair representation for all, at the executive management level to facilitate a broader global impact.

The minister was accompanied by Ghana’s Ambassador to Russia, Dr Lesley Akyaa Opoku Ware among other staff of Ghana’s Foreign Affairs Ministry.
