Ghana to participate in World Indoor Athletics championship

Ghana’s deaf athletics team is set to participate at next month’s World Deaf Indoor Athletics Competition slated for Estonia from March 13 – 18, 2019.

The tournament is expected to provide the Ghanaian deaf athletes the platform to accumulate points to ease qualification to bigger events such as the World Deaf Athletics Competition in January 2020 and the Deaflympics to be staged in July 2021.

The team is hoping to build on their recent feat at the West African Deaf Athletics Championship where they won two gold medals and a silver medal in the 100m and 200m races.

Ghana is expected to participate in the 60m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 4x400m, long jump and triple jump events all in the men’s category at the Indoor games.

The GDSF is appealing to fans; the deaf community, philanthropist and government to support the deaf athletes to make Ghana proud at the competition.
