Ghana to participate in USA Cup 2020

GO Ghana LLC, an expert provider of sports and tourism business travel, has clinched a deal with USA Cup organisers to enable Ghanaian youth soccer players participate in one of the most prestigious international youth tournaments in the world.

The tournament is slated for July 10 to 18, 2020 in Minnesota, Minneapolis USA. It features a boys and girls’ Under-9 and Under-19 tournament with a four-game guarantee after which all teams advance to play-offs. There is also an Under-9 to Under-10 fiesta with a four-game tie that would be held on Friday, July 17 and Saturday, July 18.

However, there would be a USA Cup Weekend tournament which is serving as a prelude to the USA Cup proper.

This tournament features boys and girls’ Under-11 and Under-19 tournament with a three-game minimum as well as an Under-9 and Under-10 jamboree with a four-game guarantee. It all begins on Friday, July 10 and ends Sunday, July 12 with award ceremonies following each championship game.

According to the CEO of Go Ghana LLC, Ms Yayra Hiamey, USA Cup will be held at the famous National Sports Centre (NSC), which boasts of over 50 fields and welcomes over 20,000 players and fans each day of the tournament.

“There’s no traveling between different sites to play and everyone’s here to celebrate soccer.”

She said USA has positioned itself as one of the most exciting countries in terms of football’s development, in large part, thanks to the continuous growth of Major League Soccer (MLS), the United Soccer League (USL) and the World Cup 2026 winning bid.

The Go Ghana LLC CEO believes plenty of business opportunities will be created in the foreseeable future “which makes it essential for all stakeholders to be fully ready to live this revolution.”

“Participants will have the opportunity to network with others who have an investment in the growth of soccer programmes for the youth,” Ms Hiamey stressed.

The USA Cup will serve the needs of individuals from multiple constituencies, footballers, athletes, administrators, coaches, journalists, marketers, media, parents, physical educators, sponsors, sporting goods manufacturers, street and national leaders and other representatives of organisations providing sports to the youth.

The tournament is said to be the greatest youth soccer experience in the world.

In 2019, the event attracted 1,152 teams from 22 US states and 20 other countries.
