Ghanaian officials have inspected their venue based, Ismailia, for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
Deputy Sports Minister Perry Okudzeto, who doubles as vice-chairman of the interim Black Stars Management Committee, led the delegation.
They toured the 18,525-seater capacity Ismailia Stadium which is undergoing renovation.
But the Local Organizing Committee officials promised the edifice will be ready before the tournament starts on June 21.
The Black
Stars of Ghana was handed a tricky 2019 Africa Cup of Nations draw after being
paired with defending champions Cameroon in Group F.
The Black Stars will also play Benin and Guinea
Bissau who are the other countries in the Group.
The Black Stars last played Cameroon during the
2017 Africa Cup of Nations, where Ghana lost 2-0 to the Indomitable Lions in
the semifinals.
The Black Stars have not won an AFCON title
since 1982 and now they have to negotiate a tricky group before dreaming of
reaching the final of the competition.
Host Egypt has been given a relatively easy
group after being paired with DR Congo, Uganda and Zimbabwe in Group A.
Nigeria, one of the favourites to win the
tournament will play Guinea, Madagascar and Burundi in Group B.
The tournament will start from June 21 to July
19.
