Ghana Baptist Convention urged to win more souls for Christ

The Vice President of the Ghana Baptist Convention (GBC) in charge of administration, Rev. W Komla Darke, has urged members of the church to be disciplined in carrying out their Godly activities, to win more souls for Christ.

He said the church was obliged to open more branches, train leaders and ministers to meet the spiritual and socio-economic needs of people, through strong and vibrant structures and institutions.

Rev. Darke made the call at the inauguration of a new hospital, built at Nvellenu in the Jomoro Municipality of the Western Region at a cost of $760,000.

It would serve the people of the Jomoro and Nzema East Municipalities and the Ellembelle District and other surrounding communities in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipality and Prestea-Huni Valley all in the Western Region.

The new hospital has a theatre, dispensary, pharmacy, emergency, maternity and recovery wards, injection room, ultra-sound scan machines, consulting rooms and a laboratory.

Rev. Darke said the GBC built the hospital in partnership with the Cuyahoga Valley Church (CVC), Cleveland, Ohio, USA.

The team leader of the CVC, Dr Ron P Cleveland, said God loves and cares for his people, especially those of Nzema, and expressed his love for the people through the construction of the hospital.

He mentioned that the Baptist Medical Centre (BMC) in Nalerigu in the East Mamprusi District of the Northern Region, of the GBC and its international mission board partners, have for the past 60 years complemented government’s effort in the provision of quality health care in Ghana.

The Municipal Chief Executive of Jomoro, Mr Ernest Kwofi, appealed to the Baptist Medical Service to work with the National Health Insurance Scheme to allow more people to benefit from it.

The MCE noted that hepatitis has become a silent killer, and asked health experts to educate the public on the disease.

The Chief of Tiapoum, Nana Moamezie II, praised the GAC for contributing to the development of health in the municipality.
