GH¢25m infrastructure inaugurated for TTU

The Western Regional Minister, Mr Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah has cut the tape to inaugurate various infrastructure projects for the Takoradi Technical University (TTU) in Takoradi here to enhance effective and efficient teaching and learning.

The project which comprises 40 lecture halls, four science laboratories and 80 offices to cater for the increasing students and lecturers population, was executed at a cost of GH¢25,118,430.39.

The project called “Odro block,” was funded through the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) and executed within four years.

Mr Darko-Mensah said the government was doing everything within its means to promote quality education, because education was the main pillar to advance all developments.

He said the institution was into science, mathematics and technology to train more Ghanaians to gain knowledge in the oil and gas industry to benefit the nation.

The Regional Minister said with enhanced facilities, the TTU would train Ghanaians to pick up jobs, which were dominated by expatriates at the time of the oil find in Ghana, adding that the construction of this magnificent edifice with the state-of-the-art equipment would promote teaching and learning at the university.

The Vice Chancellor of TTU, Prof. John Frank Eshun, told the gathering that he was grateful to all the stakeholders who had contributed to the construction of the edifice.

 He appealed to the GETFund administrator to release the final tranche of the funds to complete the exterior works to beautify the edifice.
