GFDA holds workshop for coaches

The Ghana Flying Disc Association (GFDA), has held a national coaches training workshop at Nungua in Accra over the weekend.

The aim of the workshop was to enhance the technical knowledge of the regional coaches in the disc sports games and also tasked with the promotion of the game in their various regions.

It was attended by six regional flying disc associations in the Greater Accra, Central, Ashanti, Oti, Eastern, Western and the Northern regions, who participated in the exercise.

Addressing the Regional Chairmen, the President of the GFDA, Mr Desmond Mantey, said the disc sports games would nurture elite athletes capable of winning laurels for themselves and the country.

Mr Mantey said the GFDA needed more trained coaches to support the game’s development in other regions.

Mr Peter Asiedu, the Vice President of the GFDA also expressed gratitude to all facilitators for their support and effort.

The workshop which was facilitated by Volunteer coaches from the USA and Germany took participants through the rules of the game, practical drills and theoretical knowledge of various technical aspects of the game.

The Association in January received its provisional recognition from the National Sports Authority (NSA), and expanded the size and scope of its developmental milestones over 10 regions in Ghana
