The Ghana Badminton Association (GBA) has opened registration for the 2023 All Ghana Open Championship to be held at the Trust Sports Emporium on August 4-6.

The championship, opened to individuals and clubs, would be opened to men and women in singles, doubles and mixed doubles matches.

For the corporate category, players will feature in juniors, seniors, and Masters matches, with players expected to feature in U-15, U-19, U-30, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70-79 groups.

Speaking ahead of the event, the Tournament Director, Mr Delawoe Nyanyo, told the Times Sports, that “the 2023 national championship is very essential on the calendar of the GBA.”

According to him, registration would close next week to allow the association work towards other arrangements for athletes.

“There will be a direct qualification and elimination draw process for everyone to play at this year’s event,” he stressed.

The winner of each category, he said, would be awarded a national gold medal and crowned national veterans champion in their age category.

The runner-up, he added, would get a silver medal, while the third-place winner receives a bronze medal.

He said clubs and affiliate associations can enter a maximum of six male players, six female players and three pairs in each of the five events available.

The 2023 All Ghana Open National Championships is a Grade 1 National Tournament with the highest-ranking points under the National Ranking System.
