GAMP gifts food items, toiletries to orphanage

Members of the Ghana Academy of Muslim Professionals (GAMP), a non-governmental organisation (NGO), on Saturday presented food items and toiletries to the management of Rahmah Home of Humanity Foundation, an orphanage based in Alajo, a suburb of Accra, for the upkeep of the children.

The items were bags of rice, cooking oil, canned tomatoes, sachet water, children toys, football, and canned fish.

The president of GAMP, Imam Seth Ibrahim Owusu, said it was part of the NGO’s 30th anniversary celebration and a strategic intervention to bring relief to less fortunate ones.

He urged the children to be steadfast and learn both Arabic and secular education to acquire employable skills to make them useful to society.

The Director of Rahmah Islamic Basic School that houses the orphanage, Mallam Yussif Musah, expressed gratitude to the association for coming to the aid of the foundation.

He explained that he initially entailed the school in 2003 and later roped in orphans and other children who roamed the community without schooling to take care of them and nurture them into good citizens.

Mallam Musah said the school had trained a lot of the children who have become nurses, teachers, and artisans and were doing well in society, adding that some had been recruited into the security services after acquiring the necessary qualifications.

Mallam Musah expressed the need for parental care for children to realise their full potentials.

Members of the academy were received with melodious Quaranic recitation by the pupils, to which they took turns to inspire the children to be great.

The GAMP was established 30 years ago as Ghana Muslim Academy to make sacrifices to the cause of Islam, humanity and national development.

It was renamed GAMP in 2017 by the General Assembly and has in its fold array of researchers, academics, medical doctors, nurses, teachers, lawyers, accountants, journalists to mention but a few.

One of the flagship programmes of the academy was the M.A. Muhajid Ramadan annual public lectures during which members researched on topical national issues, present papers and proffer solutions to some national challenges.
