The Ghana Governance Africa Foundation (GAfF), an NGO, has announced the pending rollout of its unique Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Program (YIEP) programme that would provide the youth with entrepreneurial skills.
Under the YIEP, young men and women from secondary, tertiary and graduate levels of education, would be trained, mentored and resourced to establish sustainable businesses in areas that they exhibit strong potential, individual interest and passion to succeed.
The Program would be structured to enable the youth to create sustainable employment for themselves, their peers and all Ghanaians.
This was contained in a Constitution Day press statement signed by the Executive Director of the GAfF, David Mate Azu and copied to the Ghanaian Times over the weekend.
Mr Azu congratulated Ghana for its 30th constitution day anniversary saying that “Constitution Day must always remind us, not only of our rights but that, we also have a responsibility towards our society.”
He added that the desire of the citizenry to uphold and perform their responsibilities as prescribed by the Constitution, determines the quality of the constitution and the extent to which it was shielded and protected.
The Executive Director explained that Ghana had come a long way, in its democratic governance since the inception of the 4th Republican Constitution, however, it was the sole wish of the GAfF for the society to remain firm as Ghana was going through tough economic times.
“As Ghana threads the thorny path of development, with its own ups and downs and the socio-economic challenges as currently being experienced both globally as well as in Ghana, all segments of our society will remain firm and resolute in rededicating themselves to upholding and fulfilling their responsibilities as citizens under the constitution as well as in shielding it,” Mr Azu said.
