TYSON Fury has been handed a two-month medical suspension after suffering a huge cut during his fight with Otto Wallin.
The former heavyweight champion was caught above his right eye in the third round with the injury later requiring 47 stitches.
He was twice checked by the ringside doctor before being allowed to continue and went on to win by unanimous decision.
The Nevada State Athletic Commission have now said Fury is not allowed any contact until at least October 30 and is suspended until November 14. This is standard practice and will have no bearing on Fury’s rematch with Deontay Wilder which is due to take place on February 22.
The Brit landed back in Manchester on Monday with his wife Paris, where he was happy to pose for pictures with fans.
Fury sported a huge scar above his eye but insists he will be fit to face Wilder for a second time next year. He said: “I’m ready for war. I think it was just over 40 stitches inside and out with both the cuts. “Listen I’m all right. It’s boxing.
“You can’t go swimming and not get wet. It’s the fight game.”
Fury’s promoter Frank Warren also sounded a positive note.
He said: “The doctor said it was a clean cut so it doesn’t need microsurgery inside and he said it would stitch well. Fingers cross it will be alright. He has five months until February and we will see what happens.
“Of course, he does need a rest because he has been in camp for a year.” – Mirror
