Fritz Ramseyer Presby church launches 60th anniv

The Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Fritz Ramseyer congregation,  Bubuashie, over the weekend launched her  60th anniversary with a call on Christians to worship God in Truth and in Spirit.

Preaching on the theme, “Truthfulness in Worship” the minister in charge of the church, Reverend John Nii Yartey Dickson said there was the need for Christians to worship God in spirit to have true encounter with Him.

He quoted John 4:23, “Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.

According to him, “Christians have imported artificial and bad attitude into the church, citing indiscriminate use of mobile phones  during church service.

“Christians of today cannot  worship God for just two hours without their mobile phones, they will raise one hands to the skies pretending to be worshipping God while in the other hand will be their mobile phones  flipping through social media or go out to receive ‘so called’ an important call” .

Rev Dickson said Christ is the bedrock of Christianity therefore Christians should understand  His word in order to have an encounter with Him and be saved into Heaven.

“Others have also used the church as a place of meeting or fashion grounds so they come to church on Sundays to show off or chat with friends throughout the service without listening to the word of God which is key to salvation,” he said.

Rev Dickson reminded Christians their sole purpose on earth which is to spread the word of God and rescue the perishing souls wondering around.

He said there were so many people who did not know about the word, “it is up to us to share the word and draw them closer to the God”.

Mr Robert Nii Abbey, the Anniversary Chair said the idea of founding Church was conceived by the late Madam Mary A. Fearon in 1960.

“She started with a house-to-house evangelism and visitations, by March 15,1961, she together with the late James A. Lartey. Otoo, Ansah and Sarah Lartey constituted the founding members. They initially operated as a Prayer Group -a legacy they bequeathed to the church,” he said

Some of the activities for the event would include, home coming fun fair, couples and singles summit, mass wedding, donation among others.
