The Rotaract District 9102 comprising Ghana, Togo, Benin and Niger has inducted into office, Mr Fred Asante, as the 10th District Rotaract Representative (DRR) for the year 2022/2023.
He takes over leadership and chain of command from his predecessor, Mr Eric De Souza of Benin.
At a dinner dance held in Accra at the weekend, 12 other Rotaract clubs namely: the Rotaract Club of Tema, Tema Meridian, Aflao, University of Ghana, Ho, Kumasi, Accra Adabraka, Accra Osu-RE, E-Club of One World, Accra-East and Accra-East Legon also used the occasion to hand over their mantle to a new leadership.
In his acceptance speech, Mr Asante said he was grateful to serve as the 10th District Rotaract Representative for the district in the 2022/23 Rotary year saying Rotary year was going to be a year of fearless dream to do greater things.
“My leadership is envisioned to revive the presence, energy and gusto of Rotaract clubs and its members through direct club engagement, impactful training and joint Rotaract activities,” he said.
The new DRR said his agenda was to revive and empower clubs, while helping to tell a story of togetherness within Rotaract to the world.
He, therefore, urged Rotary clubs to support the District Rotaract leadership by fully paying district dues and project levies to help materialise the vision and sponsor Rotaractors to function which would help equip them into successful leadership.
In his hand-over remarks, Mr De Souza said among the project carried out by his team in the reviewing year included a convoy for peace, construction of a food storage facility and a school canteen at a primary school in Benin, a hybrid conference on the promotion of peace and the fight against conflicts in the world.
During this year, he said, the number of Rotaract Clubs increased from 75 to 80.
In a welcome address, the District Coordinator and past president, Elisha T. Joseph, said it was relevant to appreciate and celebrate any good achievement, particularly for the unquantifiable services offered to institutions, communities and countries.
He stressed that the need to serve more communities and humanity could not be over-emphasised.
There were good will and solidarity messages from the various clubs, urging the new leaderships to move their various clubs to the next level of serving humanity.
In a goodwill message, Rotary Club of Tema Representative, IPP Christian Adams, congratulated all new Rotaract leaders who would be handed the baton of leadership.
The District Secretary, Vanessa Addai, in her remarks appreciated all outgone leaders for their effort and immense contribution to Rotaract and urged the incoming leaders to possibly outdo their predecessors in achievement.
In attendance were District Governor, Victor Yaw Asante, District Governor Nominee Dave Amankwah and District Rotaract Chair, Kwame Baah-Acheamfour, Rotary Club of Tema immediate past President, Christiana Adams.
