Franco Estates hands over 4-bedroom apartment to Police Service

The Franco Estates and Cold Store Enterprise (FECSE) last Friday handed over a four-bedroom apartment worth GH₵350,000.00 to the Ghana Police Service.

Located within the Franco Estate at ACP, North Offankor in Accra, the facility, which is on the same premises as the Franco Estate Police Station, would serve as a place of residence for officers who would be posted to the station.

Each room has a spacious hall, modern kitchen with cabinets and washrooms.

The move also formed part of efforts by the real estate developer to contribute towards combating crime in various communities across the country.

Handing over the edifice to the police, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of FECSE, Mr Francis Kwesi Nyankson said, since there was no society without crime, his outfit would continue to provide conducive environment for the police to operate.

He said the police deserved to work under good conditions, so that they would feel comfortable and motivated to give off their best, and urged the public to emulate the steps of his outfit because “government cannot develop the country alone.”

On his part, the Greater Accra Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Frederick Adu Anim, expressed gratitude to the Mr Nyankson for the kind gesture and assured that the facility would be well maintained.

He said the Police Service, in its quest to carry out its constitutional mandate of maintenance of law and order, continued to look for innovative ways of combating crime, adding that one of the surest ways was bringing policing to the door step of the public and “making police presence felt in every nook and cranny of the metropolis.”

He said the Ghana Police Service, like many public institutions, had challenges in providing adequate office and residential accommodation to personnel.

As a result, the police administration endorsed the Public Private Partnership (PPP) initiatives, which sought support from benevolent organisations in areas of their operations and endeavours.

He entreated personnel who would be working from the facility to give off their best “because every policeman is a servant of the state and a friend of the people.”

In his submission, the Kwabenya District Police Commander, Superintendent Kombat Damontin, mentioned that effective policing was a shared responsibility and urged Ghanaians to be willing to volunteer credible information on crimes within their respective neighbourhoods.
