The Federation of Muslim Council (FMC), the umbrella body of Muslims in Ghana, has commended President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for withdrawing the Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) from the curriculum.
A statement signed by Secretary General of FMC, Mr Muhammed Amir urged government appointees to perform their duties with due diligence, truthfulness and devoid of politicisation.
It accused the Ministry of Education of failing to demonstrate truthfulness with Ghanaians in handling the CSE controversy, adding that the Minister of Education, Dr Opoku Prempeh had undermined the trust reposed in him by the FMC and Muslims in general and called for his resignation.
“Evidence abounds of his inconsistency in public pronouncements, attempts to cover up and sometimes blatantly telling lies to throw dust into the eyes of Ghanaians regarding the introduction of the subject in Ghana,” it added.
The statement further urged the President to ensure that CSE was not brought back, saying government risked incurring the scathing wrath of Muslims and Ghanaians in general should it be reintroduced.
It also commended all patriotic citizens including moralists, for bravely kicking against the CSE.
