Flying start for Lukaku in Serie A

Inter Milan have won the praises of Italy‘s most influential newspapers following their emphatic Serie A opening-round victory over Lecce on Monday night.

Antonio Conte began life as Inter manager in perfect style, romping to a 4-0 win thanks to goals from Marcelo Brozovic, a beauty from Antonio Candreva and debut strikes from Stefano Sensi and Romelu Lukaku.

There is a massive wave of enthusiasm surrounding Inter’s new-look side at the moment and the whole of Italy seem to be taking note.

On Tuesday morning, Corriere dello Sport sang the praises of debutant Lukaku, who joined from Manchester United in a staggering £73million deal earlier this summer.

The Italian paper led with the statement: ‘Goal and bow to the fans: Lukaku lights up San Siro.’

Meanwhile, La Gazzetta dello Sport ran with the story: ‘Check out Inter!’

They report that Conte’s impact is there for all to see, claiming the new signings have already been very ‘effective’ while the old guard is ‘refreshed’.

And finally, Tuttosportinsist the San Siro outfit have sent out an ‘immediate show of strength’.

They go on to report that Inter are trying to sign Lukaku’s old team-mate Alexis Sanchez from United, while they also close in on Cristiano Biraghi and look to get in Arturo Vidal before the European window shuts on September 2.
