Samuel OdoiYemofio, charged with defilement, pleaded not guilty, but at the end of the trial the court presided over by Mrs Christina Cann, found him (Yemofio) guilty.
Chief Kofi Atimbiretold the court that the complainant, who is a trader, resides at La and the victim’s auntie.
The court heard that the victim,a class four pupil, lived with the complainant.
Chief InspAtimbire said on January 12, this year, the victim, who was asked to sell ice cream, returned and reported that on her way home, Yemofio lured her into his room and defiled her.
Prosecution said the complainant on hearing the victim’s ordeal, reported the case to the police at La.
Chief InspAtimbire said the case was transferred to Cantonment Division of the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit of the Ghana Police Service.
The court heard that a medical form was issued to the complainant to seek medical care for the victim, and when Yemofio was arrested by the police, he denied the crime in his caution statement. -GNA
