Fire guts building at Tesano Police barracks

Fire gutted a building at the Tesano Police barracks, on Tuesday, in Accra, destroying personal belongings of five police personnel and their families.

The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), Divisional Officer Grade One (DOI) Ellis Okoe-Robinson, confirmed the story to the Ghanaian Times, in Accra.

He said the cause of fire was currently under investigation, and appealed to the Police Administration to engage the GNFS to conduct fire audits of police barracks across the country, to ensure safety of police and their families.

The Ghanaian Times gathered that the victims have been given temporary accommodation at a hotel.

The Accra Regional Police Command PRO, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Effia Tenge, said the Tesano police called personnel of GNFS in Accra, who extinguished the fire.
