Fire guts Boa-Amponsem SHS dormitories

Fire on Monday afternoon razed two boys dormitories, at Boa-Amponsem Senior High School (SHS) at Dunkwa-on-Offin in the Upper Denkyira East Municipality, displacing at least 300 students.

The inferno that started at 2am when classes were in session, caused extensive damage to property of students at the Owusu Bore and Aggrey halls, and the Ghana National Fire Service at the municipality intervened to bring the fire under control.

Madam Grace Anapong, the Head Mistress of the school, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, appealed to the government, non-governmental organisations, old students and stakeholders to come to their aid.

She said the SHS was looking for a temporary accommodation for the displaced students who had their personal effects destroyed.

Meanwhile investigations have commenced to ascertain the cause of fire. – GNA
