FBNBank poised to build last year’s achievements – MD

FBNBank is poised to build a stronger bank and serve customers better in 2024 in a bid to become one of the leading banks in the country, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Victor Yaw Asante, has stated.

He said bank’s performance and achievements in 2023 would serve as basis to become one of the top banks in the country.

Mr Asante who stated this at the FBNBank 2024 annual health walk in Accra at the weekend in Accra, said the FBNBank last year was among the top three best banks in the country.

Staff from all branches of the bank was to signify the bank’s readiness to offer the best service to customers and clients and stakeholders in 2024 in line with its brand promise “You First.”

This year’s walk covered a distance of eight kilometers with more than 200 participants starting from the FBNBank Head Office through the Liberation Road to 37 Roundabout, through Ghana Standards Authority and back to the Head Office.

Mr Asante addressing the staff said the FBNBank went through 2023 successfully with improvement in growth and profitability despite the difficult macroeconomic environment occasioned by the Domestic Debt Exchange Programme (DDEP).

According to him, FBNBank was not seriously affected by the DDEP due to its low exposure to government and investment in government bonds and instruments.

He said the FBNBank did not change it business model and stood with the customers and helped them to address their business challenges.

Mr Asante stated that FBNBank’s 2023 performance and achievements would spur the bank on and serve as a basis to consolidate the gains made and serve customers better.

“Last year, we had a number of highs for us as a brand and business. It is a great testament to our resilience and also to our passion for what we do,” he stated.

He said the bank last year was ranked the tenth best bank in the Ghana Club 100 Awards, which was a sterling performance from the 55th position in the 2022 rankings.

“This means FBNBank moved 45 places up the ladder in the overall company rankings in the Club 100 Awards,” he stated.

Mr Asante said the FBNBank won the best in Banking Brand of the Year in the Ghana Business Awards and Banking and Finance Institutions of the Year at the Corporate People’s Choice Award, Ghana.

Touching on the health walk, he said “embarking on this health walk together as a united FBNBank family is a powerful testament to our commitment to well-being and also how prepared we are to offer the best service to our customers and clients. Just as each step contributes to our physical health, every step symbolises our collective journey towards a healthier and a more resilient future.”

“As we breathe in the fresh air of this New Year, let’s carry the spirit of unity, wellness, and shared purpose into every endeavor with the ultimate aim of delivering the best to our customers and clients,” Mr Asante told the staff of the bank.
