The Hohoe Circuit Court has sentenced a 29-year-old a farmer, to one year imprisonment for stealing two old water pumping machines worth GH¢1,600.

Inspector Rachel OseiAgyapomaa told the court, presided over by Mr Michael Johnson Abbey, that the complainant was a motor mechanic.
The court heard that the complainant whilst on his farm received a phone call that Abri had been arrested with some water pumping machines.
InspAgyapomaasaid the complainant upon arrival at his shop, detected that two water pumping machines brought to him for repairs had been stolen.
The prosecution said when Mr Abbey went to the convict’s house to identify the pumping machines, he realized that they were the ones brought to his shop for repairs.
InspAgyapomaa said witnesses in the case told the complainant that the convict was caught with the pumping machines bargaining with a scrap dealer.
The prosecution said the convict was arrested and taken to the police station with the machines, and a formal complaint was made.
InspAgyapomaa said that convict initially denied stealing the machines during investigations, but he later admitted that he stole two machines from the complainant’s shop with intention to sell them to a scrap dealer. – GNA
