The Nkawie Circuit Court has granted GH¢50,000.00
bail with two sureties, to a farmer, who
was said to have been driven by jealousy to inflict deep cutlass wounds on a
man he suspected to be having an affair with his wife.
Jacob Agyeman, 40, is alleged to have attacked
and slashed one Kwame Obeng, the alleged ‘rival’ with a sharp machete, inflicting
deep wounds on the latter.
This was when accused found the victim in the room of his second wife around 10pm, at Nweneso Number three, in the Atwima-Nwabiagya South municipality, in the Ashanti Region.
His plea was not taken, and he would make his next appearance before the court presided by Mr Michael Johnson Abbey on July 17, this year.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sylvanus Dalmeida, told the court that on June 14, this year, at about 10pm, the accused left the second wife, now at large, and visited the first wife, who also lives in the town.
He said after spending some time with the first wife, accused decided to return to the second wife and on his way spotted the victim entering the house of his second wife.
ASP Dalmeida said the accused entered the room, and attacked and inflicted cutlass wounds on the suspected rival.
He said the victim was rescued by some neighbours, and was rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi, where he was admitted.
ASP Damelda said the brother of the victim reported the incident to the Nkawie police, who arrested the accused. – GNA
