A 27-year-old farmer, who sexually assaulted a 17-year-old Senior High School (SHS) girl, at Assin-Sibinso, has been jailed nine months by the Assin-Fosu District Court.

Theophilus Appiahene, convict, charged with indecent assault, pleaded not guilty, but was found guilty at the end of the trial by the court presided over by Mr Abdu MajeedIliasu.

Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Gilbert Ayongo, said the complaint, MsAgnes Fynn, and Appiahene resided in Assin-Sibinso in the Assin District of the Central Region.

The court heard that MsFynn, who sells soft drinks, asked the girl to go an errand, but while returning home, the victim met the convict in front of a house.

According to Chief InspAyongo, the convict bought soft drinks for two Cedis and demanded that the victim took the drink into his room before payment, which the victim obliged.

The court heard that the girl could not readily get change for the  GH¢20 note offered by convict.

Prosecution said the victim went home and brought the change to Appiahene, and as soon as she entered the room, Appiahene shut the door, fondled her and inserted his finger in her private part.

Chief InspAyongo said the girl resisted and made a phone call, which the victim’s mother answered.

Prosecution said the mother of the girl rushed to the scene and together with a co-tenant, entered the room and rescued the victim.

Chief InspAyongo said Appiahene bolted and MsFynnreported the case to the police at Nyankumasi police, leading to the arrest of convict. – GNA
